Mia Shadows here. I never thought my cam life would push me into the world of stocks, brokers, and awkward office meetings. But after months of steady earnings, I decided it was time to stop just spending the money and start making it work for me. What started as a simple plan to invest turned into one of the strangest, most uncomfortable chapters of my double life so far. Maybe “uncomfortable” is too strong word, but strange nevertheless. This is the story of Mark “The Geek”, the camera emoji, and the moment my two worlds almost touched again.
The Decision to Invest
For the first time in my life I had consistent money coming in. Not crazy rich, but enough that I didn’t have to panic about rent every month. After paying bills and treating myself to a few nice things, I still had a decent amount left over every month. I started thinking — what if I actually invested some of it? Not in some get-rich-quick scheme, but something real. I spent nights reading forums, watching YouTube videos, and even asked a few trusted regulars on cam what they would do with extra money. Surprisingly, a lot of them said the same thing: stocks, index funds, or a good broker.
So I did it. I signed up with a well-known brokerage company. A few days later they assigned me a personal broker named Mark. His last name was long and complicated, so in my head I immediately started calling him “Mark the Geek”. From his profile picture he looked exactly like the type — glasses, slightly messy hair, shy smile, the kind of guy who probably played D&D in high school and still does.

The Meeting
We arranged a face-to-face meeting at their downtown office. I dressed carefully — professional but cute, nothing too revealing. When I walked in, Mark stood up and shook my hand. He was taller than I expected, with kind eyes behind his glasses. We sat down and started talking about investment options. He was patient, explained everything clearly, and honestly seemed genuinely happy to help. I caught myself thinking he was actually cute in a nerdy way. Not my usual type, but there was something warm about him.
Everything was going fine until he asked the question I always dread:
“So… if you don’t mind me asking, where does your income come from? It helps me understand your risk tolerance.”
I froze for half a second. My mouth went dry. I could have lied. I could have said “freelance writing” or “online business”. But for some reason, maybe because he seemed nice, I told the truth.
“I work as a camgirl.”
The words hung in the air. Mark blinked, then gave a small, surprised smile. “Oh. Okay. That’s… interesting.” Then came the follow-up question I really wasn’t ready for:
“What’s your stage name? Just out of curiosity.”
I felt my face burn. My stomach dropped. The friendly atmosphere suddenly felt heavy. I looked down at my hands and said quietly:
“I’d rather not say. It’s… separate. I prefer keeping my real life and that world apart.”
He nodded quickly, looking a little embarrassed. “Of course. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked that.” The rest of the meeting was polite but slightly awkward. We finished talking about investments, I signed some papers, and left as fast as I could without being rude.
The Message That Night
I got home, kicked off my shoes, and tried to shake off the weird energy from the meeting. I was just about to make dinner when my phone buzzed. WhatsApp message from an unknown number. I opened it and my heart stopped.
It was Mark.
“Hey Mia, it was nice meeting you today. Just wanted to say sorry again if I made you uncomfortable. By the way…”
Then he sent a single emoji.
📹
A camera. Nothing else. No text. Just that little camera emoji staring back at me.
I stared at the screen for what felt like forever. My mind went into overdrive. Did he find me? Did he search my name + camgirl and actually discover my profile? Or was it just a weird joke? Was he trying to flirt? Threaten me? I felt exposed, violated, and strangely disappointed. I liked him a little. He seemed kind. And now this?
I didn’t reply. I just put the phone down, went to the bathroom, and looked at myself in the mirror for a long time. The girl staring back looked tired. Scared. And more than a little lonely.

What This Encounter Taught Me
- Even when you try to keep your worlds separate, they have a way of finding each other.
- Being honest can feel freeing in the moment, but it also opens doors you might not want opened.
- Some people will always be curious about the version of you that lives behind the screen — and that curiosity can feel dangerous.
